Kathleen completed her BA in Sociology at Benedictine College long before the millennium. A life-long learner, she returned to school and earned a Master’s in Counseling at MNU in 2015. She finalized her Play Therapy Certification from Heartland Play Therapy Institute in 2016.
Kathleen has worked with, children, teens, and families in a myriad of diverse of settings, from college admissions counselor to school secretary. She operated an in-home day-care while raising her four children and then, taught at a local high school for 10 years. While pursuing her counseling degree, Kathleen completed her internship at SAFEHOME, Inc.; working with adult and child survivors of domestic violence. She was hired as SAFEHOME’s Children’s Shelter Therapist in 2015 where she worked until joining Creative Connections in 2018.
Continuing to develop her therapeutic proficiency, Kathleen has completed level one and two training in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), and additionally has been trained in Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT), Play Therapy, Sandtray Therapy, and attachment therapies. Kathleen is fervent about helping individuals to cultivate self-empowerment and to assist families in developing healthy communication skills.
