Katie Vena has been in the counseling field for over 15 years. She graduated from Southern Illinois University in 2004 with her bachelor’s degree in Psychology and obtained her double master’s degree in School and Professional Counseling. Katie also has her Play Therapy certification.
Katie has experience working in home based, residential and school counseling settings. She has worked with a variety of clientele, including runaway adolescents, autism, child life services, substance abuse and military personnel. Katie currently is employed with Platte County School District as a school counselor and has experience instructing play therapy courses for a variety of providers and organizations. Katie is an active member of APT and Missouri School Counselors Association.
Katie enjoys helping others achieve their goals, as well as spreading the teachings, success and creativity of play therapy to other professionals. She feels very blessed to have the opportunity to educate others on something she feels so passionate about. Katie practices play therapy in the school settings and sees the incredible impact on attachment, bonds and expression shown, as children are able to develop in their most natural form of communication.
